On Sunday, March 15, at 3 p.m. in Lansdale’s Calvary Baptist Church musicians of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra perform an afternoon of string quartets. Advance ticket purchases are encouraged as seating is limited.

SPSO Principal Cellist Alexandra Paino along with SPSO Violist AJ Stacy and Violinists Alyssa Lahoda and Kimberly Weberg join to perform quartets by Mozart and Russian composer Alexander Borodin.  Mozart’s String Quartet No. 15, composed in 1783 while awaiting the birth of his first child, is a masterpiece.  Considered one of his famous “Haydn Quartets” because of the profound influence of Haydn’s music, the work is a haunting blend of longing, drama, and sublime tenderness.

The string quartet concert continues with Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2, often found in the “best of” lists for classical chamber music, and the third movement remains an audience favorite.  It is a staple of string quartet music given its romantic and lyrical writing.

“The Chamber Music Concert Series is a great opportunity to experience the virtuosity of the musicians of the

Southeastern Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra,” explains Chamber Music Coorindator Faith Wasson.  “These matinee performances also make for a great afternoon with SPSO and a great mid-day escape.”

Calvary Baptist Church is an excellent venue for music.  From the accessibility of the venue and generous parking to the incredible acoustics and large seating area, Calvary Baptist Church makes for one of the finest performance venues in the region.  Tickets for this concert along with other concerts are on sale now at spsorchestra.org. Calvary Baptist Church is located at 1380 S. Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA.
